Adding Your Business to Google Places

Are you taking advantage of google’s free advertising? As google is giving more value to local search results, you will benefit by adding your business to google places. If you already have a listing then you might want to add special offers, videos and photos.

To get started make sure you have the following ready:

Your logo for uploading
Coupons or special offers (optional)
About 10 images of your business (optional)
Description of your business
Videos on You Tube (optional)
Create a google account if you do not have one. (https://accounts.google.com/SignUp)
Go to http://www.google.com/business/placesforbusiness/

Select the blue button – Get Started for free Button

Enter basic information about your company.
Enter your service area.
Specify Where Your Services Are Provided.
If you are a home based business and do not want to show your address, then select Yes, this business serves customers at their locations.
Select Do not show my business address on my Maps listing.
Indicate Your Hours of Operation.
Specify Payment Options
Add Videos

Finally, the first time you create a Google Places listing, you will need to validate your location. This helps Google avoid spam listings and advertisements. Google will send you a postcard with verification information and next steps on it. You might have to wait 2-3 weeks before your listing can get verified and become live.
