Google Informs You When Website is hacked

Websites are getting hacked everyday! How are hackers benefiting by hacking your website?  One reason may be the thrill of vandalism.  Spammers may be redirecting your website and placing links on your site to external sites for their financial gain.   They could be stealing your personal information.

Why did your website get Hacked?

There are various reasons.  Your website software may be outdated, you may have a weak password, unsanitized database queries, your computer or phone that you use to update your website may have been compromised, you filled out information at an insecure site, you were a victim of a phishing scam,  etc.

What should you do if your website is hacked?

If your website is hacked, first determine which files have been hacked.  Remove all the hacked files from your server.  If your site has a database, clean the hacked records.  Eliminate unnecessary software.  Restore your site with your backup.  Change your password.  Once you have done this run a scan to make sure your do not have malware on your website.  Then send a reconsideration request to Google.
